Back to school.

28 Feb

Today was our first day back at school. So far this term has been good. Except all the hard work. In science today we had to find out, how can we dissolve Madam Hooch’s magical water with dragon scales quicker. Our challenge didn’t take very long. Our next challenge is that we have to find out how can we melt a frozen hand [ not a real hand] quicker than just leaving it on the side. I can’t wait till tomorrow to do the challenge. From Amy

Madam Hooch’s Challenge

28 Feb

Today B1 have been doing another amazing  Harry Potter challenge and today Madam Hooch wanted to have a nice drink of magical water with dragon scales, ( Yum, Yum ). Madam Hooch wanted the dragon scales to dissolve quicker. Lots of different people tried many different things but the most succesful result was that  hot water with a few stirs. We always have so much fun in B1 while doing  work. Do you wish you were in B1???

Mrs Wege, Lily and I are off to visit Mrs Boother this afternoon so I will be able to tell you how she is.

Science Challenges

20 Feb

I have enjoyed the science challenges. I just CAN’T wait till the next challenge. It will be disappointing when the topic ends! I liked what they taught us like the; Solids Liquids and gasses, thermal conductors and insulators and material characteristics.  I bet( not with money) that everyone can’t wait until Dumbledore’s party!

Science In Our Hands

20 Feb

Recently we have been doing a series of different challenges related to Harry Potter and we are all in teams ( I’m in  Team Snape). My team members are Harry, Charlie, Max and Me. One of them was Snape’s challenge where we had to find the best material to keep the poly – juice potion warm. One material wasn’t fairly tested so we all decided to remove it from the test. Another test was Dobby’s challenge. Snape’s classroom lights were broken and Dobby ( With the help of us ) had to find a good metal conductor. The 1 penny coin was found to be the best conductor because it has the smallest surface area. We are soon having a wizarding party but only if we work hard. We will all have to dress up as a Wizard , Witch or a scientist. Unfortantely we have to do some tests and find out who is the best of the best at science.

Science in B1

20 Feb

There are lots of new blog posts by B1 further down on the page.  We would be very grateful if any parents, family or ‘friends’ of the school could spend some time reading the posts and leaving a comment.

Thank you and have a lovely half term.

When we went to @t Bristol I made an animation and forgot to put it up on the blog so here is the link.

I am approving this Evie but where is the link?  We would love to have a look at the animation and it is nice to see a member of the webteam posting!!!  Miss L.

Science Crazy

17 Feb

I had fun doing science and I cannot wait to do some more.  The thing I liked most was when we was doing the experiment to see what dissolved.  And I liked that we had to see what material would keep the cauldron warm from one end of the castle to the other end of the castle.

Thank You B1!!!

What lovely posts you have made.  I have really enjoyed the Science that we have been doing and wanted to say ‘Thank You’ for working so hard – it has been fun!!  There are plenty of characters who still need our help after half term!!!  Enjoy your holiday and keep visiting my blog over half term as I will be updating it with some just for fun links.  Don’t forget your parents can see lots of pictures from our lessons on www.missleaman.wordpress.com .

I have enjoyed  science, and I have learnt lots about materials and that conductors can let electricity though.  I am enjoying working in my group, also I like the idea of Wartcombe. I like my science group and I’m glad I’m in the group. I’ve enjoyed doing my work and testing materials. By  Katie!   🙂 😛 😀

Science!!

17 Feb

I have loved  doing science this term  and learnt so much about how materials change and how some materials don’t work for some things but some do very well. The best thing about science is all the challenges we had to do my favourite challenge was the light bulb circuit and  the temperature one .I like this term science and have learned loads in science Thank you.
