Christina Ricci plays Penelope, the main character and is joined by James McAvoy, Catherine O’Hara, Richard E. Grant, Peter Dinklage and Reese Witherspoon.
There are also cameos by comedians Ronni Ancona, Lenny Henry and Russell Brand.
The plot
Penelope Wilhern has really wealthy parents but she’s struck by a family curse that can only be broken when she finds true love. The curse? She has a pig’s nose! Hidden away by her embarrassed mother, lonely Penelope meets a string of young men that her parents try to get to marry her to break the curse. But the lads are only keen until they see her snout…
Lemon, a newspaper reporter, wants to photograph the mysterious Penelope and hires Max to pose as a possible boyfriend to get the picture. But Max finds himself falling for Penelope, but not wanting to disappoint her, he disappears.
So fed-up Penelope breaks free from her family and goes out into the world alone. She finds adventure and Annie, her first friend. But will she become the person she was meant to be?
Good bits
They find out lots of things about each other and discover a real bond. And when Penelope’s mother is trying to set her up with posh young men, she scares them away when they discover her curse.
Fave characters
Penelope is the main character and she is really sweet and kind despite living with the family curse. The reporter and his pals are funny and it’s good that they find out what the real Penelope is like by the end of the film.
Penelope’s mum is quite selfish and in a way has stopped Penelope being happy for so many years.
Hit or miss?

World book day 2008!
March 7, 2008It was world book day yesterday and everyone dressed up as there favourate book character. We had power rangers to the spongebob crew, the boy in pyjamas to minnie mouse, scarlet ‘o’ hara and many many more! Every ones costumes were great but the winners were… for lower school Charlie who dressed as floppy the dog and for upper school Milan who dressed as oliver! Well done to those two! Did you have a good day post and yell us!

Valentines day.
February 14, 2008Today is Valentines day. Tomorrow is the dance who is coming? It will be great and we have spent two weeks on this now! We are having a Brads dad as a dj. And if you don’t come there isn’t going to be another dance like this.

February 4, 2008Hi Everyone!
In the summer (last three days of school before summer holidays), 132 year 7s are going to London with the head of year! It is going to be three days there.
1st day: A tour around London, a ride on the London Eye and a cruise on the River Thames!
2 day: Natural History Museum and Wax Museum with Madam Tussards!
3rd day: A whole day at a theme park and then home!
In the nights, we are going to a hotel for bed and we (us/children) are paying for our own food! I can’t wait but it is a long way away until we get there! I forgot to say that when we are on our travels, we will be in a really posh coach!

Valentines Party
